Beware or property scammers

Two recent cases have been registered in Australia of peoples houses being sold without their consent due to fraudulent practices and scamsters.

Perth property scam sale

A Perth real estate agency is facing legal action for its involvement in the fraudulent sale of a home last year. It is alleged that the agent is being investigated for not properly scrutinising the sale before processing it.
Case 1.

A Ballajura property owner who was working overseas was stunned in August when he returned to WA from overseas to discover the house had been sold without his knowledge as part of an elaborate overseas scam.

Case 2

A Karrinyup home was sold in similar circumstances in September 2010.

John Samykannu, who owns LJ Hooker real estate agency in Mirrabooka has has got legal proceedings in the State Administrative Tribunal  lodged against him by Consumer Protection WA

Property sale scam from Australia to China to Nigeria

The scammers are said to be from nigeria and the $400,000 proceeds of the sale were transferred to a bank account in China and which have not been recovered.

"The Commissioner for Consumer Protection will allege that the agency L.J. Hooker Mirrabooka and agent Mr John Samykannu did not exercise due skill, care and diligence by failing to properly verify the identities of the vendors," a statement from Consumer Protection WA says.
